In Loving Memory of

Patricia Ann Bender January 17, 1947 – May 27, 2026

Her love was the foundation of our family. Her memory will be our strength forever.

Patricia Ann Bender (née Melroy), age 79, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. Born on January 17, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up in South St. Louis and attended Bishop DuBourg High School. Pat lived a life defined by love, devotion, generosity, and family. Pat believed that even small acts of kindness would make a meaningful difference. Throughout her life, she generously supported charitable organizations that helped families in need, veterans, children, and those facing hardship. Giving was not something she did for recognition, it was simply part of who she was. Her caring spirit, generous heart, and desire to help others reflected the way she lived her life every day. Pat took pride in the cleanliness of her home and supporting her family. She enjoyed bowling, reading, traveling, horseback riding, boating and relaxing at the Ozarks. Pat was reunited in Heaven with her beloved daughter, Kimberly Bender, whom she loved deeply and carried in her heart every day. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude Melroy, sister Sharon Neal and brother Michael Melroy. Pat was married to her beloved husband, John, for 63 wonderful years. Their love story began when they were young and grew into a lifetime of devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a beautiful family, shared countless memories, and created a home filled with love, laughter, and acceptance. Through every season of life, they stood side by side, proving that true love only grows stronger with time. Pat's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to DeAnna Helfer (Neil) and Todd Bender (Gretchen), and a proud and loving grandmother to Aiden Pratt (Caroline), Kelsey Bender, Carlie Pratt (Caleb), Caitlyn Loeffelman (Cole), Step grandmother to Drew Helfer (Emily), Alexis Helfer (Tavian), and Samuel Helfer. She was also a cherished step great-grandmother to Emery Robinson, Cecilia Helfer, and Sonny Helfer.
