Obituary

With hearts full of sorrow yet gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Pietra Pitti, who left this world peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Saint Louis, Missouri, at the age of 91.

Born in the enchanting town of Monreale, Sicily, on January 2, 1934, Pietra was a woman of quiet strength, profound faith, and immeasurable devotion; her journey was one defined by grace, resilience, and a love that knew no bounds; especially for her family and her cherished devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Pietra shared 65 devoted years of marriage with the love of her life, Jerry Pitti. Together, they built a life rooted in loyalty, compassion, and enduring love. She was the treasured mother of Cathy (Scott) Andrews and Salvatore (MaryAnn) Pitti, and the adoring grandmother to seven grandchildren: Justin, Cristina (William), Anna, Nicolas, Lucas, Carlo, and Logan. Her heart expanded once more with the arrival of her great-grandson, Matteo, who brought her boundless joy. She is survived by her beloved sister, Giovanna Silverio.

Her greatest masterpiece was the life she crafted at home. With a keen mind, a generous spirit, and hands that turned simple ingredients into unforgettable feasts, Pietra transformed every holiday into a celebration of love. Her kitchen was a sacred place where recipes were passed down, stories were shared, and her unwavering care was served with every dish.

Above all, Pietra was the heart of her family. She leaves behind not only treasured memories, but a legacy of unity, tradition, and unwavering love.

Though she is reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Carlo and Caterina Silverio, her siblings Rosalia (Giuseppe) Sardisco, Nicola Silverio, Giacomo (Giovanna) Silverio, Giulio (Giuseppa) Silverio, Castrenza (Giuseppe) Minasola, Ciro (Amparo, Marisella) Silverio, her spirit will continue to live on in every embrace, every Sunday dinner, every rosary whispered in faith.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Pietra's life on Tuesday, April 29, with visitation beginning at 9:30a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:45a.m., held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Rd, St. Charles, MO 63304. She will be laid to eternal rest at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery, 740 N. Mason Rd, St. Louis, MO 63141.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Evelyn's House, 1000 N. Mason Rd, Creve Coeur, MO 63141, in honor of Pietra's compassionate spirit and enduring legacy.
