Richard Cameron Edmiston
September 20, 1932 – October 30, 2024
Richard Cameron Edmiston of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on September 20, 1932, Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, beloved by all who knew him.
A proud veteran of the Korean War, Richard served his country with honor from 1953 to May 1955. Following his return home, he dedicated his life to his family and community. On July 29, 1961, he married Sally Ann Petty at St. Gregory's Church in St. Ann, Missouri, and together they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage until Sally's passing in 2016. Richard built a long and dedicated career with McDonnell Douglas, where he worked until his retirement in 1993.
Richard was a familiar face at the Thoman Boothe American Legion, where he was an active member. He could often be found tending bar at the Friday night fish fries, always ready with a smile. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Richard remained a loyal baseball fan to the very end, rarely missing a game and always cheering on his Cardinals.
Richard was a loving father and role model to his children, and his warmth extended through his community work as a coach, church usher, and dedicated volunteer. His kindness, humor, and spirit of service will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Edmiston and Ron Edmiston (wife Kathy Edmiston), and his daughter, Anna Edmiston-Dougherty (partner Pierre Vreyen). He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Justin Edmiston, Heather Edmiston, Damon Dougherty, Jake Edmiston, Meghan Dougherty (husband Thoma Luettgen), Ian Edmiston, and his great-grandson, Hunter Edmiston.
Richard's legacy of love and commitment to his community will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will always be remembered for the joy and laughter he shared with everyone around him.
