Robert F.
Lynch
August 31, 1955 – February 9, 2024
Robert F. Lynch, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on August 31, 1955, in St. Charles, Missouri to Thomas and Rita Lynch. He was the fourth of eight children and cherished his childhood and adventures with his family. Bob and all his siblings graduated from Duchesne High School, and they are still a proud Pioneer family.
Bob was a loving and devoted father of Pat Hughes and Dawn Lovelace and brought a lot of fun to their Chesterfield home. Bob was a truly wonderful father, but he was an even better grandfather to Matthew and Genevieve Lovelace. "Grandpa Bob Bob Bob" was always there for them, and we will cherish all the laughs and fun they had.
Bob had a lot of hobbies. He was an avid golfer and spent several days a week beating the younger golfers in his leagues. He loved boating and spent weekends boating on the river for the last 35+ years. He was a SLU Basketball season ticket holder and cheered on the team through the good and bad seasons with his friends and brother. His favorite day of the year was the annual Lynch Family Softball game he hosted each July 4 th . He valued that time with his family and friends and all the wonderful traditions that came with it. One of his best hobbies was taking care of people. Whether it was his aging parents or a friend who needed help, Bob was always there and could fix nearly anything. He was resourceful and handy, always traveling with tools and a smile. He was selfless and compassionate, and his help came from his genuine care of others. Bob was a friend to many. It was easy to be friends with him because he was always positive, charismatic and incredibly funny. His laugh was contagious, and you always had a good time around him.
Bob was a proud Union member of Glaziers Local 513 and believed in putting America first. One of his other favorite jobs was working at the Sheraton Westport hotel, where he made several friends including his ex-wife and mother of his children, Vicki.
Bob was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in April of 2022 and fought courageously the last two years. It had to be extremely tough for him, but he never complained and always focused on others. He inspired us with his strength and humility and made us incredibly proud each and every day.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Rita Lynch, along with his brother Tom Lynch (husband of Claudia Lynch King) and sister Ann Lynch. Bob's amazing personality and memories will be carried on by his children: Patrick (Laura) Hughes and Dawn (Matt) Lovelace; grandchildren: Matthew and Genevieve Lovelace; siblings: Mary (Patrick, deceased) O'Daniels; Patrick (Dee, deceased); Theresa (Ted) Ruzicka; Julie (Mark) Eckstein; and Joseph Lynch; and too many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to name.
Visitation will be Monday, February 12 from 4-7pm at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur, MO 63141. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, February 13 at 10:30am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 221 1st Capitol Dr, St Charles, MO 63301.
Bob donated his body to Saint Louis University Medical School. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Head for the Cure, Team Bob Bob Bob . Money raised at this local event goes specifically to his oncologist and the clinical trial he was in at Siteman Cancer Center. The team at Siteman gave us extra time with him after his diagnosis and we are beyond grateful for that gift.
People like Bob come around once in a lifetime, and we will miss him forever.
