Obituary

Robert L. Stadler Baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection on Sunday, August 18, 2024
Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann Stadler (nee Shorrock);
Beloved father and father-in-law of Kathleen (Allen) AufderHeide, Kenneth (Carol) Stadler, Susan (Jerry) FitzGerald, Barbara (the late David) Brown and Sandra (Don) Algren; beloved grandfather of Matthew (Jackie), Michelle (Nathan), Kathryn (Steve), Melissa (Josh), Corinne (Justin), Sarah (Sean), Amanda (Chuck), Christian and the late Elizabeth; beloved great-grandfather of Kenzie, Keely, Lincoln, Charlotte, Quinn and Michael; our dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, godfather and friend.
Bob was born on February 21, 1929 and gave all who knew him 95 years of love, laughter and joy. He was a devout Catholic and Parishioner of All Souls his entire life.
He married his 'Sweetie Pie', Patricia, in 1950, after meeting her while working at neighboring businesses; Harrison Lumberyard and Bettendorfs on Lackland Rd. Ultimately, having 65 wonderful years together. During their marriage they enjoyed vacationing, gardening and watching the wildlife in
their backyard.
Early on, Bob worked as an usher at the local movie theatre. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. Then spent the majority of his professional career as a tool design engineer for National Vendors. During which time he produced multiple patents to use in the manufacturing process of building vending machines that he gifted to National Vendors. This past September he had the privilege of being a participant in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Bob loved to work in his woodshop making things; from a 2 story 3-foot-tall doll house, furniture built to his engineered specs, birdhouses for the entire family and neighbors, to slingshots for the grandkids. He also liked to hunt, fish and spend time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids; teaching them how to skip, drive a car, fish and use those slingshots. After he retired, he joined a model airplane club and took great pleasure in his time flying his planes. Later at assisted living, Bob loved to play nickel poker at 2pm with the other residents. He had a wonderful sense of humor and wit, loved to cut up with everyone and was always in a good mood.
His family will miss his words of wisdom; Do it right or don't do it at all, You're a good egg, Good clean livin' just to name a few. Dad thank you for being a good egg, always doing it right and showing us what good clean livin' looked like.
