Robert John Stanze 6/23/46 - 7/23/26 Chesterfield, MO Preceded in death by his parents, Adele Benes Stanze and Stuart Stanze, his son Officer Robert Stanze II and his brothers Tom, Don and Stu Stanze. At just 16 years old, Bob began what would become a lifelong career in the movie theater industry as an usher at the Ozark Theater in Webster Groves. Through hard work, dedication, and an unwavering passion for the business, he advanced through various theater mergers and acquisitions, eventually serving as Vice President of Operations for AMC Theaters. A true movie enthusiast, he loved every aspect of the industry and never tired of sharing stories about creative promotions, memorable experiences, and the celebrities he met along the way, including Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Charlton Heston, Tom Selleck, and hometown favorites Whitey Herzog and Bob Costas.While he enjoyed a successful career, his greatest joy was always his family. The holidays were especially dear to him, beginning with the family's Thanksgiving Open House and continuing through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations. Christmas simply won't be the same without watching It's a Wonderful Life and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation countless times together. The Christmas tree he spent weeks decorating each year was a masterpiece, admired by all who had the privilege of seeing it, and a reflection of the love and care he poured into every family tradition.He loved baseball and watched the St Louis Cardinals as often as he could. He enjoyed fishing and had many great stories after weekends with his brothers at his brother in law Rory’s lake house. He even built a pond in his backyard where he spent many days feeding the fish and doing pond maintenance. Saturdays were often spent playing liars poker with various family members. He lit up when around family and reliving wonderful childhood memories.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Christie Teich Stanze, his children, Christine D’Agostino, Deborah House, Michael Stanze (Gabrijela), his brothers, Ralph Stanze and Rich Stanze (Nancy); his sister Pat Alexander; his brother in law Rory Teich (Pat), sister in law Lynne Granger, nine cherished grandchildren; precious twin newborn great-granddaughters; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his faithful dogs and companions, Tanner and his "lil girl," Taffy, who never left his side. More than the career he built or the traditions he created, Bob will be remembered for the love of his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the countless memories that will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved him. To quote Clarence from It’s Wonderful Life, “Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole…” Flowers sent will be donated after the service to Joy Petalers. Visitation at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd. Creve Coeur, Wed. July 30 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Church, 567 St Josephs Ln, Manchester, MO 63021, 10 a.m. Visitation at church starts at 9:15 a.m.
