Robert J.
Williamson
November 5, 1935 – January 15, 2024
Robert J. Williamson, 88, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed away peacefully, January 15, 2024 while surrounded by his family.
"Bob" was born November 5, 1935 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Jack and Dorothy (Duganero) Williamson. He received his preparatory education in the Erie Pennsylvania school system, graduating from Erie Tech in 1953. Immediately upon graduation, Bob joined the United States Air Force. Shortly after basic training, Bob flew home to marry his longtime love, Patricia "Patty" Thomas. Together they raised a family of 7 children, all born while Bob was stationed in Spokane, Washington.
Following in the footsteps of his older brother Jack, Bob quickly became one of the youngest Chief Master Sergeants in the Air Force, at that time. During the Vietnam War, Bob was stationed in Guam and served a year in Thailand as a B52 Crew Chief. Bob was always very proud of the work he did flying and working with the B-52. Bob and his family were also stationed at Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Omaha.
Upon retiring from the Air Force after 20 years of service, and still at the young age of 38, Bob began his second career with Boise Cascade. While working full-time for Boise, Bob attended college and earned a business degree. He was later promoted to regional manager and transferred to St. Louis, Missouri.
After retiring from Boise Cascade, Bob spent the next 5 years as a business consultant, working with several different companies and corporations across the country.
Over the course of his life, Bob found great enjoyment in being outdoors. Among numerous activities and hobbies, Bob enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. After full-retirement, he and Pat enjoyed vacationing at various warm-weather destinations. He especially enjoyed the many times they traveled to Florida and Hawaii to spend time together with family and friends. Perhaps the thing he loved most was spending time around his own pool at home with his family and friends. He never tired of watching his grandkids and great-grandkids having fun, especially around the water.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dorothy, his big brother Jack, and his son, Robert "Bobby" Junior. He is survived by his sister Pat (Philip) Eckberg-Davis of Simpsonville, South Carolina, sister Nina (Jack) Austin of Erie, Pa, Sister-in-law Nancy Williamson of Spokane, Washington, and brother-in-law James (Marylin) Thomas of Erie, Pa; his wife Pat of 69 years, daughter Sue (Russ) Robertson of Bentonville, Arkansas, son David (Tania) Williamson of Port St. Joe, Florida, daughter Linda Williamson of Chesterfield, Missouri, daughter Karen (RJ) Missler of St. Charles, Missouri, son Gregg (Steve Richardson) Williamson of St. Louis, and daughter Denise (Dave) Saverin of Chesterfield; 5 grandchildren, Stacey (Julian) Venegas, Tyler (Kate) Robertson, Brittany (Casey) Ransom, Emily Missler and Dylan Floyd; 3 step-grandchildren, Samantha, Jack and Ian Saverin and 9 great-grandchildren; Quinn, Olivia, Morris, Oscar, Luke, Wesley, Lola, Paul and Scarlett as well as many nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, California, Washington State and South Carolina.
