Obituary

Roger Myles Stueckel passed peacefully on 12/22/2023 at the age of 91.

Roger was born in E St. Louis, IL in 1932 to Henry Stueckel and Dorothy Olson Stueckel.

He was the youngest of three children. Predeceased by both his brother Henry 'Hank' Stueckel and sister Dorothy Stueckel Barbee.

In his teens Roger was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the distinction of being the youngest Eagle Scout in Illinois at that time.

In his early twenties he married Laura Wall and had two sons - Randy and Richard - before joining the US Navy. After fulfilling his service commitment he used the GI Bill to attend SIU Edwardsville University.

Upon completing his degree Roger moved his family to Milwaukee, WI to begin his sales career taking a job with Colgate-Palmolive.

While living in Germantown, WI he transitioned into industrial sales taking a sales position with American Saw and Mfg. And expanding Laura and his family with the birth of a daughter. Tamara Jeanette Stueckel.

Eventually being promoted and relocating back to St Louis, MO. a second daughter was born - Mindy Rebbeca Stueckel.

In 1973 Roger was promoted to Vice President of Sales for American Saw and moved his Family to the companies head quarters in Massachusetts.

In 1977 the family moved back to St Louis, MO and Roger began the next phase of his career becoming a business owner. He founded Gateway Industrial Products, Inc. and Gateway Market Supply, Inc. and remained active in the companies until selling them 30 years later.

Just before retirement Roger remarried. He and is wife Diana O'Sullivan-Stueckel enjoyed traveling and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks and winters in Destin, FL.

After Diana's passing Roger transitioned into the Senior Living Lifestyle of the Willows in Chesterfield, MO. He made many friends there - one being his special friend Juanita Hartwig. Whom he enjoyed her companionship daily until her passing in 2020.

Roger's passing at 91 is a celebration of his life. He had lifelong friends and late life friendships alike. He was a Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grand Father, Great Grand Father, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and so much more in his 91 years. He will be missed but rest assured he is watching over everyone from above.

Visitation will be held at Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, December 28, 2023, from 4pm to 7pm. The Memorial Service will be held at Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Boulevard, Creve Coeur 63141 at 10am, December 29th, 2023.  Burial to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Roger's memory to the Veterans Association.
