Obituary

Sally Hogan

December 30th, 1934 – January 30th, 2024

Preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Hull and Loraine Hull (nee Schmidt) and twin brother Donald Hull, and widow of John Hogan. Beloved mother of Thomas (Beth) Crook, James (Debbie) Crook, Robert Crook, William Crook, Daniel Crook, and Elizabeth Crook. Beloved Grandmother to Jacob Crook, Timothy Crook, Matthew Crook, Spencer Crook, Mary Catherine (Thomas Smith) Crook, and Valerie Jane Crook, Great Grandmother to Julian Crook, Sybil Crook and Opal Elizabeth Smith.

Mom loved all her children, their spouses and significant others, her grandchildren, and their spouses and significant others, and great grandchildren. She showed her love through her sewing and was an avid seamstress. She started making doll clothes as a girl, around 6 or 7. And now her great granddaughter Sybil has many of them and cherishes them as mom did. She promises to share them with Opal Elizabeth when she grows. She started with doll clothes as a girl and continued her art as she became a woman. We all cherish what she made for us, be it night gowns, wedding gowns, flannel shirts, and jackets, all had the tag, Custom Made by Sew She Seams.

She loved to walk, and walked every day, visiting with the neighbors. Every morning she would greet them by name. She loved flowers, and beautiful fabric and had an eye for people. As they say, she seldom met a stranger. She loved orange juice and wine from her Tom & Jerry Welch's jelly jar. She loved to share a glass of wine with John in the evening, as they watched Jeopardy. She loved falling asleep to tv and slept through more Jimmy Fallen than she watched. She loved watching her PBS shows, like Downton Abbey and Doc Martin, and all the documentaries. She loved going to live theatre every chance she got especially musicals. She loved going on cruises and eating sea food, and any kind of fish was her favorite.

She showed her love with her hands that made gifts that would last our lives. She saw the people she loved and knew how to clothe them. Sally would always remind us to take what we like and leave the rest. In life, in love, in spirit, and the rest. She will be missed and remembered by those of us who had the privilege to share this earth with her.
