Beloved husband of 68 years of Margaret Elaine Stipanovich (nee Ortmann); dear father and father-in law of Ted (Shelly), Steve (Terri), Mike (Janice) and Joan Stipanovich; loving grandfather of Ted (Erin), John (Katie), Adam (Kim) and Alexandra Stipanovich, Mari (Nick) Bradford, Katie (Seth Putnam) Stipanovich, Kelli (Justin) Donat, Sadie (Cole) Montgomery, Hannah (Tim) Anderson, Emma and Luke Stipanovich, Nick (Taylor) Stipanovich, Matt (Katie) Stipanovich, Paige (Ryan) Corrigan, Sydney (Aaron) Howell, Ryan Stipanovich, Bradley (Stephanie) Stipanovich and Brianne (Alec) Ramsdell; loving great grandfather of Samantha, Sophie, Teddy, Maggie, Will, Gabby, Brayden, John Jr. "JJ", Eli, Casey, Colton, Miha, Olivia, Memphis, Dominique, Davy, Henry, Hattie, Theo, Noah, Nora, Molly, Cal, Collins, Jack, Will, Carson, Chase and Evelyn; dear brother of the late Martha (late Leonard) Davidek and the late Ted (Dee) Stipanovich; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio to Theodore and Sadie (Visnich) Stipanovich, Sam was raised with strong family values. He received a basketball scholarship to attend Saint Louis University, where he met the love of his life, Margaret Elaine Ortmann. They married on June 8, 1957 and Sam joined his father-in-law in the family business, dedicating his career to serving others during their times of loss. He became the owner of Ortmann Funeral Home and Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, where he faithfully served families in the community for many years.
Sam enjoyed fishing, golfing, and following sports, but his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He attended countless sporting events and recitals of his kids and grandkids throughout the years, always providing praise and advice to their performances.
Visitation at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, MO on Friday, March 13 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, 13416 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO on Saturday, March 14 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Private interment at St. Monica Church Cemetery.
