Sin Hwa Song, 98, of St. Louis, MO passed peacefully at her home on September 8, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1927, in Seoul, Korea, the daughter of Sang Rae Kim and Ui Hee Park who both preceded her in death. Sin Hwa met and married her late husband Chun Sik Song in the 1940s and they celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.

While living in Korea, she was part of Human Resources in the Department of the US Army which then allowed her an opportunity to immigrate to America. In 1974, Sin Hwa, Chun Sik, and their 3 children moved to the United States and lived briefly in Fayetteville, NC before settling in St. Louis, MO. She accepted a position to be a social worker for the Missouri State Government and proudly stayed there until her retirement in 1996.

Sin Hwa was a founding member of the Korean Senior Citizens Association here in St. Louis, and her love for travel extended to making travel arrangements for the association. They enjoyed traveling to Washington DC, San Francisco, Europe, and everywhere in between. Aside from traveling, she was an avid reader – she loved to read biographies and anything related to history – and enjoyed discussing politics with anyone who would listen.

She is survived by her children, Sandy (Chang), Matthew (Veronica), and Joseph (Julia); her grandchildren, Jessica (Carlos), Leslie (Kevin), Kristie, Patrick (Stephanie), and Bryant (Antoinette); and one great-grandchild, Eleanora Song.

Sin Hwa was preceded in death by her husband, Chun Sik Song, her grandson, Andrew Kim, her three sisters, and two brothers.
