Obituary

Stephen Gregory "Pete" Adams passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born July 21, 1952, Steve is survived by his partner/spouse of 19 years, Harold W. Mitchell, his mother Mrs. Evelyn Adams, his brothers Robert (Signe) Adams and Thomas Adams, sisters-in-law Sue Witte and Cathy Mitchell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Steve graduated from Mercy High School, where he met his future wife, Rosemary Witte (deceased) in 1970. They married in 1973.  He later went on to get a bachelor's in business administration from Maryville University.

Steve started his career with McDonnell Douglas in 1971. Through his work there, he had the opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia for 3 years where he made some wonderful friends who he kept in touch with over the years.  Later, he spent one year working in Australia.  Steve retired from Boeing Human Resources in 2004.  A few years later Steve got bored being retired and took a position for the 2010 Census and then later for the IRS culminating in a total of 8 years of Federal Service, retiring in 2021.

Steve enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, baking, and gardening.  He also enjoyed spending his summers around the pool with lots of friends.  He was very much a tropical beach traveler.  Steve was a proud papa of many cats over the years leaving behind Pippi, Captain Nemo, Darla and Danica.  They all miss him already.

Steve was preceded in death by his first spouse Rosemary (Witte) Adams, his father Earl Adams, his sister-in-law Elizabeth "Betty" Witte, and brothers-in-law Roger and Charlie Witte.

The Family would like to thank the numerous friends who helped care for Steve during his illness along with Royal Assistant Care, Creve Coeur Assisted Living and Memory Care, Missouri Baptist ICU and Palliative Care staff, and, lastly, Evelyn's House BJC Hospice for making his final days comfortable and peaceful.

Visitation will be held at Ortmann's Funeral Home in Overland, MO on Wednesday July 10th from 5-8 pm with a Mass there on Thursday July 11th at 11am.  The family requests everyone dress in tropical beach themed attire as is fitting with Steve's personality.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Saint Animal Pet Adoption (SAPA) in Saint Ann, MO (www.sapamo-rescue.org)  or to Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur (www.bjchospice.org/Evelyns-House).  If you wish to send flowers, please call Carol's Corner Florist in Overland, 800-783-5977.
