Obituary

Thomas William Cullinane

July 15, 1940 – October 26, 2023

Tom was born in St. Louis to his loving parents, Thomas and Julia Cullinane.  His youth was spent in south St. Louis and Colorado, where his father was serving in the Army Supply Division.  Back in St. Louis, Tom's little sister Peg O'Meara (Kevin) was born while they lived on Raritan Drive.  He met his forever partner, Carol, in the winter of 1965 on a blind date.  They were married on April 22, 1967.  Soon after they were married, their family began to blossom.  Tom was the proud father of Tom (Julie), Dan (Shelle), Tracy (Patrick), Andy (Mimi) and Tim (Dawn).  Tom doted over his two grandchildren, Delaney and Katherine, as well as his niece Julie Notario (Brian) and nephew Dan O'Meara (Kim).

Tom graduated from Eugene Coyle High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from Southeast Missouri State in 1963.  He was a proud member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.  His respected professional career began with McDonnell Aircraft in 1963 as a buyer.  Next came McDonnell Douglas, where he graduated to procurement for the FA-18 Super Hornet.  He retired in 2001 as the Director of Procurement for Phantom Works with Boeing.

Tom was an avid golfer and fan of all St. Louis sports teams, particularly the Blues and Cardinals. He relished telling stories about attending big games and quizzing you on fun facts like the original teams of the AL and NL.  He enjoyed the outdoors, whether fishing on one of many trips to Bennett Springs or mowing the yard up until this year.  Great memories exist of family vacations to Sanibel Island and beyond.  Most recently, Tom and Carol wintered in Southern Arizona and would take annual trips to the East Coast to visit Tracy in Nantucket, exploring Maine and points elsewhere.  Tom loved his hounds (mostly dachshunds) and would even have a conversation with them on Christmas Eve.

Of particular note, family birthdays meant dinner at Mom and Dad's to celebrate.  We will cherish these memories forever, including our most recent celebration on Monday October 25th.  Everyone was able to attend as we all came together one last time to celebrate with Dad.
