Obituary

Thomas Lloyd Patterson (68) of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born September 25, 1955, in St. Louis, and was the son of the late Thomas Harvel and Norma Jean (Lansche) Patterson. He is survived by his daughter Erin Marie (Eric) Wenzel and son Thomas "Tommy" Joseph (Anastasia); grandchildren Eleanor "Ella" Rose and Edward "Eddie" Thomas; the mother of his children and dear friend Karen; brother William "Bill"; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his brother Larry and sister-in-law Mary. He was a beloved son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, neighbor and friend to many.

Tom grew up in Breckenridge Hills, MO, and graduated from Ritenour Senior High School in 1974. He was an excellent student and a member of the National Honor Society. Tom began his career working for Southwestern Bell at the age of 18 as an information operator. He was promoted to management and played an instrumental role in numerous projects over the years, including the conversion from analog to digital technology. After over 37 years of service, Tom retired from AT&T in 2010.

In retirement, he became heavily involved in the Manchester Elks Lodge #2058 serving as a Trustee and House Committee Chair for many years. Tom was a benevolent community man who stayed busy donating hours of his time. In addition to his heavy involvement with the Elks, he was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 397 in Creve Coeur. He took his fish fry responsibilities very seriously as his photo even ended up on the cover of the St. Louis Post Dispatch in 2023.

Family was so important to Tom. He was the best Papa and loved spending time with his grandchildren, making sure he saw them at least weekly. Ella and Eddie were the light of his life and they could always put a smile on his face.  Tom will be remembered as a devoted friend to many who was always helping out in any way he could. He was a responsible, loyal, and much-loved man.

Tom will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the healthcare staff at Missouri Baptist Medical Center for taking such excellent care of Tom in his final days and hours.
