Tom was born on November 3, 1948 to Walter James and Florence Elizabeth Flannery (nee Warnick) in St. Louis City, Missouri.  Dear wife of Dorothy (Dottie) Flannery (nee Painter) of St. Ann.  Loving father of Dawn (Bradley) Inman of Overland and Stacy Brandt of O'Fallon.  Dear Stepfather of Tommy Clifford and Ashley Painter.  Loving grandfather of Becca (Jordan) Henke, Kelsey (Richard) House, Allie (Parker) Perez, Chase and Jordan Brandt, Anthony, AddLynn, Seth, Jaxon, Kora, Ryker; Great-grandfather of Aubree Wiley, Liam Henke, Vivian Lewis, Colton House, Lincoln House, Emersyn House.  Dear brother of Douglas (Debbie) Flannery.  Dear brother-in-law of James Painter; our dear uncle, cousin, and friend.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sharon Watson (nee Flannery), sister Judith Rey (nee Flannery), brother Michael Flannery, brothers-in-law Robert Watson, Ronald Rey, John Painter.

Tom served in the United States Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic during the Vietnam War at both Takali Air base, Thailand and Bien Hoa Air Base, S. Vietnam.  After an honorable discharge from the Air Force he served in the Army National Guard as an MP.  He served as Police Officer in various municipalities and retired as a Captain from Belridge Police Department.  During his time on the force, he was awarded the Purple Heart by the State of Missouri for saving a fellow officer and a woman while under gunfire.  Tom enjoyed riding his motorcycle, visiting wineries, and loving on his dachshunds.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Louis Backstoppers or Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

Services at the Ortmann Funeral Home, 9222 Lackland Rd., Overland, MO 63114. Visitation on Monday, February 17 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Service on Tuesday, February 18 at 10 a.m. with interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
