Obituary

Timothy James Logan, Sr., of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Tim was born on February 12, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in the St. Louis suburbs of Webster Groves and Ballwin. He attended St. John Vianney High School, graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia, and in 1972, married Terri Lynn Taylor, also of St. Louis. Together, with their children, they lived in Rio de Janerio, Brazil; Toronto, Canada; Warren, Ohio; and then eventually settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Tim began his career as an electrical engineer at Ajax Magnethermic headquartered in Warren, Ohio. He would eventually lead the international division there before joining what is now the Pittsburgh-based Wabtec Corporation as Vice President and Group Executive in 1996, retiring in 2008. Never one to sit still for long, he was shortly thereafter recruited by Mitsubishi Electric in 2011 to serve as General Manager of the Transportation Systems Division for the next seven years. He became an international scion of the railway industry. After his second retirement, Tim continued to travel around the world, most recently with dear friends to Italy and France, and spent time in his home in Naples, Florida.

A former high school athlete, Tim was a competitive tennis player for much of his life, and had recently picked up pickleball, at the encouragement of his children. GPT, as he was affectionally called by his grandchildren, was an avid Steelers fan. More than anything, Tim loved being with friends and family, and just spent this last Thanksgiving with his children and grandchildren in St. Louis.

Tim is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Terri Lynn Logan. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Logan Meyer; his son, Timothy James Logan, Jr.; his grandsons Sol and Vincent Meyer; and siblings Tom Logan, Marianne Donahoe, Judith Sebring, and Kathleen Nonnamaker; and Terri's siblings Marcia Badock and Fred Taylor, Jr. He was an uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and dear friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mighty Oaks Heart Foundation in the memory of Tim Logan. Donations may be made online or in the form of a check made payable to Mighty Oaks Heart Foundation (memo line In memory of Tim Logan).
