Ursula O. Kagel (nee Slattery) fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away April 2, 2024. She was the youngest daughter of William and Bertha (nee Wigglesworth) Slattery.  She is preceded in death by husbands Gilmer (Red) Gunderson and Sidney Kagel, sisters Mary Frances Forcheimer, Virginia Kennedy, Dorothy Schaefer, Delores Musgrove, and beloved brother William Slattery.  She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Ursula was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri.  After graduating from Normandy High School, she moved to Vista, California, where she worked at Camp Pendelton. After her husband retired from the Marine Corps, they moved to Chico, California where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Chico School District. She loved volunteering for the American Legion and the Veterans. She also enjoyed playing cards games and watching Billiken basketball games, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. Her fun-loving spirit will be missed.

She had an unwavering love for her family & friends.  Her father said, "God gave you many gifts, use them wisely."  And, she did! As her parting gift, she donated her body to the St. Louis University Anatomical Science Program. Private ceremony.

Donations can be made to the American Legion.
