Vernon
Dunn
April 15, 1935 – February 23, 2026
Vernon Dunn passed away at Fairmont Senior Living on February 23, 2026, surrounded by family.
Beloved husband of Beverly Dunn (nee Porzel); dear father and father-in-law of Steve Dunn, Maureen (Mike) Morrow, and Laurie (H.J.) Heistand; dear grandfather of Andrew Morrow, Justin (Sierra) Morrow, Luke (Maria) Morrow, Alyssa Dunn, Hailey Dunn, Lawson Korte, and Landrie Dunn; great-grandfather of Aiden, Sawyer, and Lucille.
Born on April 15, 1935, Vern was the middle of five children born to John and Verna Dunn. Survived by sister Fran Emerson and brother-in-law Dick (Mary Lynne) Porzel. Preceded in death by brother Jack (Jackie) Dunn, sisters Margaret (Bob) Franken, Loretta (Don) Mason, and brother-in-law Tom Emerson. Vern was also a fun uncle and great-uncle to many.
Vern began his working years by delivering the paper in his wagon. He set pins at Epiphany Bowling Lanes and moved on to dishwashing at St. Mary's Hospital. He joined the Army and enjoyed the travels. Vern then returned home and began his data processing career at General American. It was there he met his match in Bev. They dated, then married in 1959 and raised three children. He was very proud of and loved his family.
He retired in 1997 after working for the Sisters of St. Mary's, where he set up and used the first "computer" system. After retirement, he volunteered at many places, spent extra time in the yard, and attended the grandkids' events. He and Bev travelled the world with many friends. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger.
Vern and Bev spent the last 30 years as members of Incarnate Word Parish in Chesterfield. Vern was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus council 9981. With them he worked on many activites including years of chairing the Red Cross blood drives and many Lenten Fish Fry dinners. When the Holy Spirit Assembly 3588 was established, he joined them and continued his work. He enjoyed the faithfulness and camaraderie of his fellow Knights.
We invite friends and family to celebrate Vern's life on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Incarnate Word 13416 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63017. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery will be private.
The family would like to thank Fairmont Senior Living for the excellent care given this past year. We would also like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at BJC Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
