Virginia R.
Ehlers
June 10, 1929 – October 8, 2023
Virginia R. Ehlers June 10, 1929, to October 8, 2023
Virginia Ruth Ehlers (née Kuecker/Lehenbauer) was called to her Savior's nearer presence on Sunday,
October 8, 2023. A lifelong child of God, she has left the Church militant here on earth and has joined
the Church triumphant in heaven, where she now lives and reigns with her fellow saints in the
Kingdom of Glory.
Virginia (Ginny) was born to Arthur and Ellanora (Reisterer) Kuecker on June 10, 1929 in Pocahontas,
Missouri. Soon after her birth Virginia entered the Kingdom of Grace through the waters of Holy
Baptism. She reaffirmed that baptismal covenant at her confirmation on Palm Sunday, April 18, 1943.
Both her baptism and confirmation were at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, MO. At the time of
her passing she was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Des Peres, MO.
Ginny was blessed to marry two faithful Christian husbands. On May 13, 1951, she was joined in Holy
Matrimony to Arno A. Lehenbauer. This marriage lasted 41 years until his death in 1992. They were
blessed with six children. On February 17, 1996, Ginny was joined in Holy Matrimony to Fred T. Ehlers,
a marriage that lasted 24 years until his death in 2020.
Ginny is survived by her six children: Pamela (Tom) Nummela of Creve Coeur, MO; Mark (Vickie)
Lehenbauer of Tulsa, OK; Gregg (Laura) Lehenbauer of Lakeland, FL; Karen (David) Kramer of
Manchester, MO; Ronald (Elaine) Lehenbauer of Lake Ozark, MO; and David (April) Lehenbauer of
Maryland Heights, MO. Grandchildren: Bethany (Mike), Tim (Rachelle), Kara, Jon, Daniel, Sarah
(Thomas), Emily, Hannah, Andrew (Louisa), Alyssa (Rob), Matt (Taylor), and Micah. She is also survived
by her great-grandchildren: Lena, Katie, Tommy, Abby, William, Elizabeth, and Marie.
She is a special member for the Ehlers family: Bill, Jim (Peggy), Sandy (the late Keith) Macke and Mike
(Chris); special grandmother to Jessie, Katie (Matt), Tommy (Alexandra), Nick (Amanda), Liz (Jake
Campbell, Emily (Brent) Thompson, Steve (Alex) Macke, Ruth (James) Nash, Ryan, Andrew, Jonathan and Luke;
great grandmother to Brody and Kenzie Thompson, Warner and Whitney Macke, Lock and Odette Wise-Ehlers, Hannah Ehlers and Aubrey Nash.
Ginny joyfully and actively lived out her faith whether it was in her various roles as wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, neighbor, or friend in Christ. She took great joy in her faith and served both in the
church and the community. While in church she served in the Women's Guild, Concordia Seminary
Guild, Altar Guild, Choir, Rummage and Craft Shows, volunteering cooking and serving hot lunches at
Immanuel Lutheran School. In the community she served as a Block Captain in the neighborhood
association. She was primarily a homemaker. Following High School, she did clerical work until she got
married, and occasionally continued to do clerical work through a temporary agency until she started a
Shaklee business out of her home.
While she found the time to raise six active children, she also enjoyed gardening and landscaping, candle
making, various crafts, floral arrangement, and creating art with paint and other media. Each of her
children have fond memories of Ginny working to be an example of Christ's love as she prayed with
them and helped them to memorize Holy Scripture and favorite hymns. She found great joy in living life
with her family, and her home was always open for family travelers and hosting holiday celebrations
with extended family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, a stepmother, her siblings, and many dear friends and
extended family members. In 1986 Arno and Virginia established the Lehenbauer Scholarship
Endowment Fund at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis MO, to provide aid to students preparing to serve
as pastors in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
For all who trust in Jesus, there is no brighter hope to dispel the grief and pain that we feel at
Virginia's leaving to be with her Lord, than Christ's own blood-sealed assurance that all who trust in
the saving merits of Jesus Christ will one day be reunited with Virginia and all the ransomed saints in
heaven. May this be our hope and our strength! To God be all glory, forever and ever! Amen.
