Virginia "Ginny"
Lee Jordan
May 16, 1944 – October 2, 2024
Virginia Lee "Ginny" Jordan (nee Hanon) – May 16, 1944 - October 2, 2024
Ginny Jordan of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Nokomis, FL, born and raised in St. Louis, MO, received her final sacraments and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Christ in heaven shortly before midnight on October 1, 2024.
Ginny was a proud homemaker her entire life. She learned how to run a household from her mother, a woman who worked hard to protect and provide for seven kids. Ginny, the only girl of the bunch, and the six Hanon brothers learned early that home is wherever family comes and sticks together.
When she was 21, she left the family home and moved into an apartment with her new husband, Bill Jordan. As time passed, she grew to have a house and children of her own–her greatest joys. Second only to doting over her husband, two children, grandchildren and pets was her passion for gardening and love of flowers. She was an active Master Gardener and shared her love of horticulture with so many. At each residence throughout her adult life, she transformed the outdoor areas into masterful displays of balanced floral landscapes. Her final home in Kansas City became a beautiful tribute to her love of gardening. Though she was limited to selecting plants and directing their placement, her family and friends were more than happy to do all the heavy lifting and digging. Ginny is survived by her two brothers Joe Hanon and Pat Hanon, and many beloved nieces and nephews of the Hanon family, her dearest cousin and friend Patty White, her son Chris Jordan (and wife Michelle), her daughter Mandy Ponder (and spouse Todd), her grandson Bryce Jordan (and wife Maggie) and granddaughter Bailey Rose Jordan. Ginny is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bill Jordan, her mother Rose Hanon, brothers Gene Hanon, Ray Hanon, David Hanon and Mark Hanon, sisters- in-law Joanne Hanon (nee Glastris) and Dorothy Ziern Hanon, niece Lynn Hanon, and great nephew John Edgerley.
In closing, there's no "in lieu of flowers." Ginny loved helping things grow and watching them bloom. Her family hopes this final celebration of her life is an absolute outpouring of colorful flowers. Those responsible for receiving and transporting floral displays have already been given proper notice.
