Humphrey, Wayne Leonard
On Tuesday, August 21, 2018 age 87,completed his amazing journey here on earth and began his everlasting walk in the heavenly company of our Lord. He was born on March 23, 1931 to Leonard and Marie (Ryan) Humphrey in Sterling, Illinois. He is predeceased by his older sister Joyce Buhrow, and is survived by his younger sister Shirley Cheeseman. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Mary (Ries). They were married on December 29, 1956 and had five children: Deborah Ann, Daniel Blake, Diana Marie, Russell Leonard and Lorraine Frances. He is predeceased by his youngest daughter Lorraine and his eldest son Daniel. He is proud father-in-law to Greg (and Deborah) Knobbe and Norie (Cava) (and Russell) Humphrey. And he is happily blessed with many grandchildren: Amy Michelle and her husband Wes Wilson, Rebecca Lorraine and her husband Ted O'Toole, Frances Gabrielle Humphrey, Leonard Miles Humphrey and Claire Evangeline Humphrey. He is further blessed with six beautiful great-grandchildren: Eliana Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Coralie Wilson, Oliver William O'Toole, Benjamin Thomas O'Toole, and Reid Joseph O'Toole. His extended family consists of many beloved aunts and uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters in-laws, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He served during the Korean War in the Navy on a submarine. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from St. Louis University. He worked in the Aeronautical Engineering field for several companies, including McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis Missouri and Coleman Research in Huntsville Alabama. He also was an Algebra Instructor for St. Louis Community College. His talents and interests spread far and wide. He loved traveling and sightseeing, camping, playing the piano, Krav Maga, to name just a few. He was actively involved in many charitable organizations throughout his life, and was a friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
Services: Visitation will be on Friday, August 24 th from 4:00-8:00 PM at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at St. Monica Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, Missouri on Saturday, August 25 th at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Bellerive Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MDA, Woodhaven, The Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude's Hospital, or any of the many wonderful other organizations he would feel passionate about.
