William Steven (Steve) Jackson was born on May 18, 1950, in Springfield, MO. to Bill Jackson and Mary Anna Jackson. He is survived by his mother, Mary Anna Jackson-Davis of Edwardsville, IL. and four siblings: Mark Jackson (Terry), Leanna Jackson Rizzoli (Jay), Jan Jackson, and David (Kim) Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much. His father, Bill Jackson, preceded him in death in 1990. Steve passed away suddenly from a fall at his home in Ladue, on March 18, 2025.
Steve graduated from Hillsboro High School in Missouri, where he played football, acted in school plays, and was on the debate team. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Sociology from UMSL, Steve also studied at the New School of Social Research in New York.
Steve began his career working as a sociologist in the St. Louis Public Schools. He transitioned to a long career in politics by working on several Democratic campaigns, including Jimmy Carter's successful presidential race. He later worked as a political advisor and lobbyist for various organizations, including the Seafarer's International Organization, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and the city of Maryland Heights. He retired in 2022.
Throughout his life, Steve enjoyed travel, the arts, and was an enthusiastic sports fan especially loving his St. Louis Cardinals.
