Obituary

Gordon Zobel, 58, of Saint Louis, MO, passed away on January 13, 2020 after suffering cardiac arrest.

Gordon was born on May 29, 1961 to Heinz and Gerri Zobel. Younger brother to Conrad and Craig Zobel, older brother to Annette Zobel. The Zobel family was baptized and attended elementary school at Our Lady of Lourdes in University City. Gordon attended high school at Christian Brothers College High School (class of 1979).

At Rockhurst College, in Kansas City, Gordon majored in business, which led to his long career in financial advisement and sales. He was married to Lisa Aholt from 1986 - 2003 and they raised three children - David (32), Megan (30), and Christine Zobel (26) in the Saint Richard parish, where Gordon coached their soccer teams for 15 years.

Gordon met Julie Taggart in 2004 and they were later wed on May 5, 2010. They shared a love of the outdoors and enjoyed taking their over-zealous 'puppy' Callie on walks at Creve Coeur lake near their home.

Whether to the beaches of Florida or mountains of Canada, Gordon cherished his time traveling with family and friends. Back at home, he could be found watching a Blues game, working on household projects, or offering his time, tools, and many talents to friend in need. His friends describe him as both the life of the party and the friend whose shoulder you could lean on. Gordon was an adventurous, generous and loving soul - he will be missed by the thousands of people he made laugh and smile. His memories will live on in those that loved and kept him dear.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Zobel, children, David (Wendy) Zobel, Megan and Christine Zobel, grand-children, Barrett and Luke Zobel, step-children, Chase (Samantha) Taggart and Cassidy Taggart, parents, Heinz (Joan) Zobel and Gerri Zobel and his siblings, Conrad (Joni) Zobel, Craig (Linda) Zobel, and Annette (Bryan Hettenbach) Zobel.

Visitation services will be held at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16th from 4-8pm. Services conclude with funeral at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on January 17th at 10am. Donations in Gordon's name can be sent to the St. Louis Blues charity outreach program that trains assistant dogs: 'Barclay's Training Camp' ( https://hockeydogs.benefitgames.com/ ).
