Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Wed., Dec. 15, 2021. Beloved husband of Joyce Ann Mossotti (nee Dowl); dear father and father-in-law of Louis C. Jr. (Mary), Mark A. (Jennifer), Lisa A. and Nicholas G. (Darla) Mossotti; loving grandfather of Lauren (John) Matthews, Alyssa (William) Morris, Stephanie, Rachel and Samantha Mossotti and Alec and Christopher Greif; loving great-grandfather of Emerson Morris and Baylor Matthews; dear brother of Rita Mossotti and Ladonne Tangaro; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
Colonel Louis C. Mossotti (ret.) was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in January 1954. After an initial tour of extended active duty during the Korean conflict, he remained in the Air Force Reserve program until mandatory retirement in 1985 after 31 years of total service. Twenty of those years were spent in assignments with the Air Force Office of Special Investigation (AFOSI, Bolling AFB, Washington, DC). At retirement as a Colonel, was assigned as Mobilization Augmentee to the Commander of the Fifth District AFOSI, Wright Patterson AFB, OH; the largest district in the Continental United States responsible for investigative and counter intelligence activities in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and portions of Pennsylvania and Missouri.
Colonel Mossotti was a Vice President of Central Hardware Company being with the company from 1967 until 1994. He was was a dedicated member of St. Louis Area Law Enforcement having served on several boards and committee's throughout his work history. He remained an active member in the American Society for Industrial Security, American Legion Post 397, Federal Criminal Investigators, Missouri Peace Officer's Association, Professional Investigators Council of Greater St. Louis.
Funeral Mass at St. Monica Church, 12136 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Tues., Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to charity of your choice appreciated.
